Situated in the heart of Knightsbridge, Peninsula’s London flagship hotel will boast views across Hyde Park Corner and Buckingham Palace Gardens. The development, which will include a 190-room hotel in addition to 28 luxury apartments, is Peninsula’s first development in the United Kingdom and it is due to welcome guests in 2022.
Designed by British-based Hopkins Architects, the new building will replace the existing offices at the site, built in the 1960s. The Peninsula London is planned to cater for both hotel guests and local customers. In addition to guestrooms and spa, the hotel will have shops, bars, restaurants and a ballroom. A grand pedestrian entrance on Grosvenor Place will be accessed from a colonnade linking to an internal ‘Palazzo-style’ courtyard.
Over 30km of Van Damme cable was installed throughout the site to complement the Meyer Sound systems in each room and ensure that all audio, signal and data in the building was of the highest quality.
This included the Van Damme Ecoflex LSZH 2x2.5mm, 2x4mm and 4x2.5mm speaker cables, Van Damme Purple Series LSZH 2 pair and Van Damme Mini Quad cable for the high-tech AV smart controls in the hotel.
Van Damme was chosen for its unbeatable sonic fidelity and quality as well as stock holding and ability to dispatch the order quickly. As the delivery coincided with the end of the first lockdown in 2020, it needed to be to site at a specific time in a specific vehicle – all of which was easily arranged by VDC.
