As well as making a star appearance on the New Year’s Eve Graham Norton Show, the emerging talents of the band Years and Years have been showcased around Europe on tour with the help of audio hire specialists Hark, based in Bow, East London and London-based sound engineer Harry Bishop. Specialist cable systems and assemblies for the touring rig were supplied by VDC Trading including a touring rack for the band’s playback systems.
VDC’s Adam Jafrabadi built the 48 channel 3 way active split with Sowter transformers, 4 x 16 way SAT inputs with patchable tails and 16 channel returns, plus all the associated cabling on VDM’s, using Van Damme cable throughout. The whole system was turned round in less than 2 weeks to meet the band’s schedule.
Harks’ Mark Hornsby explained: “The system works extremely well. I always know what I need and VDC provided a completely professional service as always. The broadcast feed went down very well with the crew in the van outside and, as the band are using wired IEMs, there was a return system so that signals can be sent back to wired ears or monitoring from the stage box.”
VDC’s Dan Penny designed the touring rack and an additional carry-on version of the same for taking on board the various flights involved in the tour.
